Meteograms: Messages in Time
As an apprentice forecaster, you will learn that sometimes it’s advantageous not to display weather data “spatially” (on a map), but, instead, to display weather data with respect to time. In these instances, weather forecasters focus their attention on a specific weather station or airport and watch how atmospheric variables on the station model unfold in time (usually over a 24-hour period). Such a “time display” is called a meteogram (a sample meteogram appears below, courtesy of Unisys Corporation).
